Hormonal Mental Health and Cycle Awareness
What have you been taught about your cycle?
Perhaps to keep it hidden? To control it? Or maybe to resist it—and hate its presence?
For many of us, the menstrual cycle has been something to dread, dismiss, or feel shame about—rather than something to understand, respect, or listen to.
I specialize in supporting people who want to explore the connection between hormonal health and emotional well-being. Whether you're navigating PMDD, perimenopause, menopause, PCOS, postpartum changes, irregular cycles, or simply sensing that your cycle affects your mood and mental health more than you were ever taught—it’s not just in your head, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
We’ll explore how stress, trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, or internalized negative beliefs might be impacting both your emotional life and your hormonal balance. From a science perspective hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and cortisol play a huge role in how we feel—mentally, emotionally, and physically. When stress builds over time, it can disrupt your nervous system and interfere with the natural rhythm of your cycle.
But this isn’t just about managing symptoms. I believe your cycle can be a source of insight—offering valuable signals about your needs, emotions, and energy. Emotions that arise premenstrually, for example, are often parts of us asking to be heard. Therapy can help you tune in, respond with care, and begin to work with your cycle instead of against it—bringing more steadiness, compassion, and connection into your life.
In our work, I draw from approaches that help you reconnect with your body and emotions, including:
Mind-body practices that help calm the nervous system and reduce stress
Guided rest techniques like Yoga Nidra to support deeper healing and hormonal regulation
Parts work to gently explore inner emotional conflicts and patterns
Cycle awareness tools to help you track, understand, and honor each phase of your cycle
This work is grounded in both modern science and ancient wisdom traditions that once honored the menstrual cycle as a powerful, intuitive guide. I also hold space for the reality that not all people who menstruate identify as women, and I strive to use language that is respectful, inclusive, and affirming of all identities.
If you're curious about what your cycle might be trying to tell you—or how your emotional and mental health might shift through deeper understanding—I’d be honored to walk alongside you
